Communications Intern

 Role: Independent Contractor

 Supervisor: Kate Masury, Executive Director

 Start Date: October 2022

 End Date: December 31, 2022 with option of possible extension until June 2022 if agreed upon by both parties.

 Pay Rate: $17/hr for 8-15 hours per week with possible additional hours as agreed upon by both parties. Invoiced monthly.

 Responsibilities:

The communication intern’s primary responsibilities include producing a blog and social media content for college aged students about incorporating more local seafood into a college student lifestyle. The blog will be hosted on the Eating with the Ecosystem website and social media content will be posted on EWTE’s social media channels with the option of also posting on the intern’s personal social media channels if desired. The communications intern may also assist with additional communication related activities such as seasonal newsletter creation, social media content, research project dissemination materials, as well as educational events.

This position is a remote position and can be done from anywhere in New England. The intern will report to Eating with the Ecosystem’s executive director and will meet and communicate regularly over Zoom/Google Meets, phone calls, and email.  Depending on the intern’s geographic location and/or willingness to travel, some in person opportunities may be available for example, assisting with in person events such as the EWTE Annual Community Dinner held in Wakefield RI each fall.

 Qualifications:

  • Must be a college student currently enrolled a New England based college or university.

  • Strong written and visual communication skills required

  • Ability to work independently and remotely

  • Proficiency in social media channels such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook

  • Students can be in any year of their program and students from all majors/ study areas are encouraged to apply.  

  • An interest in seafood, fisheries, sustainability, cooking, and food systems is desired.
