Diadromous fish

20.00

Diadromous fish spend part of their lives in freshwater and part of their lives in saltwater. American eels spawn in a part of the Atlantic Ocean called the Sargasso Sea (near Bermuda), and then travel to the coast of North America to live out most of their lives. Alewives have the opposite strategy, traveling upriver to spawn and then living their adult lives at sea. Fish populations that depend on rivers have been significantly affected by dams, and investments in dam removal and fish passage can play a much-needed role in bringing these fish back! Our boat will feature eels and alewives.
